Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist is the advanced level of certification for ophthalmic medical personnel offered by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Candidates must meet exam specific requirements in order to apply for the computer-based examination and Performance Test for certification.

The Certified Ophthalmic Technician is the intermediate level of certification offered by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). Candidates must successfully pass a computer-based examination and a computer-simulated Skill Evaluation to earn certification at this level.1

The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant earns certification by passing a computer-based examination on the following content areas1:
